Hearts Desire
Previous - Poetry Home - Next
The long path to happiness,
It is a winding trail,
No-one there can guide you,
Or tell you where to go.

You control your destiny,
Through thick and thin and worse,
It isn't nice for everyone,
Some people think that it's a curse.

As you walk past unseen battles,
Neither fought nor won,
You think about the future,
And then you start to run.

Through the valleys, though the forests,
Through the mountains wide,
You throw logic to the wind,
And let your heart decide.

Then you reach the sharp cliffs edge,
The air all clear and dry,
You take a step out onto the mist,
And then you start to fly.

Over valleys, over rivers,
Through the sky so high,
Life is what you make it,
You all but have to try.
