Vampire's Night
Previous - Poetry Home - Next
Lurking in the shadows,
Hiding from the light,
My life all in a shambles,
My face an awful fright.

My teeth extend and face contorts,
At the smell of blood so pure,
A wee little human, a child of sorts,
Sweets and toys a likely lure.

Enhanced sight sees what is not,
Eternity set to waste,
Is it life, or is it not,
Without blood, a drop to taste.

The sun, it burns like hell on earth,
The shell just melts away,
From life to death, death to birth,
In the shadows must we spend our day.

From blood we're born, without blood we die,
Pale of skin and clammy of touch,
In a coffin the day we lie,
Cooped up like chickens in a hutch.

In the night we slink, in the shadows we lurk,
The moonlight guides our way,
A bounty of lives, the only perk,
Before the ominous dawn of day
